Conference Hotel Director of Food & Banquet
The AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center at The University of Texas in Austin is seeking an experienced Director of Food & Beverage to join their pre-opening team. The four-star facility will be opening in the Summer of 2008 with 297 rooms, over 40,000 square feet of meeting and conference space, two full-service restaurants and one conferee dining room. We also offer in-room dining and a poolside grill.
The Director of Food & Beverage will have responsibility for the overall foodservice operation at conference center. Financially accountable for all food and beverage outlets, room service and banquets. Operates the department in accordance with the approved budget, while providing the Client with the maximum value for the dollars spent. Ensures that the food offered to the client, customers, and employees of the operation is of superior quality. Directs and conducts safety, sanitation, and maintenance programs. Maintains excellent relationships with employees, guests and Client as well as other departments within the operation. Promotes the professional growth and development of the entire team. In addition the Director of Food & Beverage will foster strong inter-departmental relations and integrate the department with the facility plan of operations.

- Supervisory, leadership, management and coaching skills
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to communicate on various levels to include management, customers, client and associate
- Able to handle responsibility for ensuring proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of proper serving temperatures-follows HACCP standards
- Knowledge of financial, budgetary, accounting and computational practices
- Proficient computer skills to include; various computer programs, Microsoft Office programs, e-mail and the Internet
- Know and adhere to all liquor liability laws
- Know and adhere to all Flik policies and procedures
Necessary Ingredients:
- Minimum of Associate's Degree required
- 3-5 years progressive hospitality experience is desired
- Demonstrated profit and loss management ability and client relations success is essential
- Requires operations management experience with purchasing knowledge
- Excellent communication and computer skills are needed, including knowledge of MS Office products
